Apocalypse Battle
9th Edition Rules
8th Edition Points

Chaos and Eldar Convention
(Eldar, Iron Warriors, Nurgle Deamons)
VS
Imperial Retribution Force
(Imperial Fist, Salamanders, Cadians)

The Battle
The mission holds six objectives, each generating a victory point for the side holding it at the end of the battle turn.
Secondary objective generates one point by killing an enemy warlord.
Each side is About 9000 pts.
Note; the Reaver titan is currently not operational.

Turn 1
Either The chaos gods or Eldrad Ulthrran has forseen that the unholy convention of Aeldari and Chaos must start, so after a tied roll off, the Convention finally wins the roll.

In the first turn the Convention side move forward with most units, securing a few Objectives. The Convention side major achievements would be a destroyed preadator, a thunderbolt flyer and quite some wounds off assorted vehicles. The Imperium side strikes back harder, mostly thanks to the Imperial Fist fire base, destroying the Sicaran, the Preadator, both Hellblade fighters, a Vindicator and an Aeldari Hemlock, as well as multiple wounds on the convention armies. However, the Imperium has not gained much ground.

Chaos/Eldar 4 objective pts
Imperium 1 objective pts

Turn 2
The Convention side destroys a couple of Cadian tanks, mainly with the combined Aeldari force weaponry, but the the Great Unclean One shines by dealing the last wounds to the Imperial Knight in close combat. The Salamanders Repulsor goes down aswell to Iron warrior fire. The Imperials reinforce their ranks and retaliate by taking out both Soul grinders, a vindicator and the last Hemlock fighter, as well as gaining some ground. In the Center the Salamanders claim the ruins and start the purging of Heretics.

Chaos/Eldar 3 objective (7) pts
Imperium 1 objective (2) pts

Turn 3
With heavy losses on both sides, the Nurgle Deamons summons 30 new Plaugebearers to the battle, bolstering the Convention ranks. Most Imperial causalities this turn is inflicted on the Cadian army by the Aeldari force. The Deep striking Imperial fist terminators only goes down to the massed firepower of the full Iron warrior army. The Salamaners kills the Nurgle Herald in Close combat and the great Unclean one (Warlord) goes down to the Imperial fist firepower, leaving the Nurgle Deamons Leaderless.

Chaos/Eldar 3 objective (10) pts
Imperium 2 objective + 1 warlord  (5) pts

Turn 4
In the last turn both sides forces are getting thin, but the Convention side has more heavier vehicles left. A few more Cadian Vehicles gets destroyed, and a massed close combat is initiated in the center of the battlefield. The Aeldari Autarch (Warlord) is slain by the Salamanders Librarian, standing too close to him during a failed attempt to smite by the Librarian, resulting in a Perils of the warp implosion that kills them both. The Imperial fists purge away the large Plaugebearer unit claiming one objective and the imperial Space marines can now claim four objectives between them.

Final scoring
Chaos/Eldar 2 objctive (12) pts
Imperium 4 objective + 1 warlord  (10) pts

The battle is a No retreat with the East German Volksarmee as attackers. One objective is located by the houses in the road junction and one on the railroad deep in the US deployment. The US holds two platoons of M60s in reserve and the third in ambush.

Turn 1
The Volksarmee advance all units and inflicts two team causalities on the infantry hiding in the houses by the closest objective. The US strike back, ambushing one M60 platoon and getting another from reserve. They open up on the East germans destroying the BMP scouts, a BTR60 and two T62s.

Turn 2
The volksarme sets up the infantry in position covering the closest objective, succeeding a blitz the staggers can fire on the M60 close by. The second infantry platoon fail to blitz but dismount. Combined fire destroy two M60s and a infantry team.

The US gets reinforced by the last M60 platoon and are now at full strength. The Tanks concentrate fire on the T72s destroying 3 tanks.

Turn 3
The Volksarmee is now supported by soviet aircraft, takes out two M60 arriving from reserve and an infantry team. The infantry on the right flank stays pinned and cannot do much to support the fight.

The lone tank flees but the A10 strike aricraft makes an appearance. The M60 destroy all but two T72, aswell as the gazkins, preventing any AA-rire in range. The A10s then strafe the BTR60s destroying four of them.

Turn 4
With single tanks left in two platoons, the soviets fails both morale and company morale, leaving the mechinized company on the table. The Infantry on the right again fail to unpin. The Shilkas preposition to offer anti-air cover while the stagger teams destroys a M60.

The US again gets some air support. The M60s snipe one of the Shilkas and clean the table from BTR60:s. The A10s striking loses one aircraft to AA fire, and only scores a single infantry kill.

Turn 5
The HQ tank is destroyed by arriving Frogfoot aircraft, but the east germans fail to do anything else, as the infantry on the right fail to unpin once again. The infantry on the left moves towards the houses supported by staggers, but dosent reach it.

The A10 aircraft flees due to a failed morale test. The M60:s re position to prevent an assault on the houses, killing four East German infantry teams. The platoon barley remains, but is pinned.

Turn 6
Both infantry platoons unpin and the two M60s, now exposed to the stagger teams gets destroyed by the incoming missiles. With only the infantry left the US flees the battle at the start of their turn.

East german minor vicory.

The battle was a very close call, if another two East german infantry teams would have been destroyed, the battle would have gone in the US favor. The new morale rules, similar to FoW WW2, is however a bit punishing and un-predictive. Nevertheless an even and fun battle.

Bunker Bowl season 6

A new team for the new season upcoming!

A brand new team, at least for me, will take the pitch this spring. I'll go with the standard setup of six Saurus and a Kroxigor to allow for some early SPPs gain on the teams less scoring members, the Saurus and the Krox. The Lizardmen team might stand high on the food chain, but hopefully their lack of starting skills can provide a bit of challenge in the current season of Bunker Bowl!

2xMerkava 2
Mech Infantry
Tow jeep
2xShika
2xCobra

The mission is a counterattack with Syrians as attacking force. Israel holds tow jeeps, Shilkas and cobras in reserve and ambush one platoon Merkava. Syria start will all units on the table.

Turn 1
The Syrians push forward and move one mounted unit towards the left flank objective. One Merkava is destroyed at short range by the T72s. The Israeli Cobras arrive and one of their tow missiles destroys a T72. two more Merkavas appear from ambush and Israel fight's back with tanks and infantry, destroying a T72 and two T62s and a BTR. A shilka and a few BTRs are bailed.

Turn 2
Syrian forced push forward and position to make an assault with the T62s. Air support arrives but fail to hit the Merkava it was aiming for. The assault results in all three T62s getting bailed, stopping the assault. All T72 shells bounce off the Merkavas. The Shilkas fire combined with the stagger team destroy the Cobras.

Israeli TOW jeeps arrive, blowing up the Syrian Shilkas. Another handful of vehicles are destroyed by the combined fire from Merkavas and infantry

Turn 3
The Syrian infantry push forward to support the fight against the dug in Israeli infantry, while the T62s approach the Merkavas. The BTR infantry on the left flank moves out of their vehicles and take up position by the second objective. Their transports and destroy three Tow jeeps with their autocannons. One Merkava is Bailed, but remounts at the start of its next turn.

Now the Shilkas arrive and destroy one BTR. Realizing the threat at the second objective the Merkvas and the M113 transports move into better positions, while opening up on the tanks ahead. Another two T72s and one of the T62 companies are finished off.

Turn 4
Realizing the dug in Israeli infantry is to hard to assault all Syrian units try to re position to better protect the second objective. A side aimed shot from the stagger team destroys a Merkava.

The Merkavas destroys a T72 and reduce the T62 to just two tanks and the HQ. The M113 reduce the first infantry platoon to three teams, barley keeping them alive.

Turn 5
With few weapons to take on the Merkavas from the front, only side shots from the slow fire ring T62 can attempt to destroy the Merkavas. But all shot misses. The rest of the army re position towards the second objective.

To prevent the Syrans from taking the objective at the beginning of turn 6, one Merkava moves up towards the objective and assault one of the infatry teams. With no weapons to fight the Merkava at close range, the Infantry has to pull off. However, the Tanks flanks are now exposed.

Turn 6
The battle goes into closer quarter with exposed tanks, combined tank fire and stagger missiles destroy two Merkavas. The M113 are reduced by massed fire from the remaining BTRs.

With only two tanks, a M113 and the dug in infantry left, the odds are getting bad for the Israelis. One Merkava is hitting the T62 HQ twice, but getting a double bail result in the T62 formation still on the table. The Second Merkava bounce its shots against the T72s

Turn 7
The last two Merkava's are destroyed by the stagger team and the aircraft, thus the Israelis breaks off having only the infantry still on the table. Each Syrian formation was reduced to minimum, but all three formations remain at the end of the battle.

Result; minor Syrian victory

Flames of war - Kursk campaign (part 3)

The first part can be found here and the second here.

Battle 12 and 13.

Battle 12
A soviet offensive that turns into a meeting engagement. The battle is constantly a close call and the German Tiger push deep into soviet lines. But the Soviet counter offensive proves lucky, where the marders all get bailed and flees the battle. The Stuarts then push into the Germans lines, taking the German objective just one turn before the Germans would have pulled off a victory.

Battle 13
In the next battle the soviets face a couple of the most feared Ferdinand's. The game starts out well off for the Germans, but the offensive is quickly halted and the Soviets manage to pull off a Victory again.

Current score
With Kursk lost to the Soviets and the adjacent territories being captured in battle 12 and 13, things looks a bit dark for the German side.
Soviets: 21
Germans 13
Two more battles to go.
