Warhammer 40k - Secure and control

Ynnari vs Grey Knights - 1500 pts

This battle reminded me a lot of a recent battle against the Emperors favored banana boys. A small elite force of grey knights, all topped with 2+ save and plenty of wounds ambush the fragile and dying Aeldari. Through the far sight visions of the Farseer, the Aeldari manage to seize the initiative and strike first. The objective is to take the enemy objective and hold the own objective...!

Turn 1
The Ynnari war host move forward, knocking down the dreadnought to 1 wound. The grey knights deepstrike most of the army, as well as teleporting the rear deployed assault squad forward. The result is a brutal assault that destroys the wave serpent and consolidate the grey knight positions.

Turn 2
The Ynnari fight back, killing the dreadnought and damaging the (horribly ugly) dreadknight. The wyches reach the grey knight paladins in assault but fail to kill any. In return grey knight charge the guardians killing them, while softening up the rest of the Aeldari infantry.

Turn 3
The Ynnari destroy the dreadknight (This alone should be considered a major victory for Aeldari and Mankind alike. Sadly there is more of these horrible abominations out there so the Xenos will continue to wage war against mankind for sure.). The grey knight assault squad is reduced in shooting, but a lone wych, unable to escape from close combat, prevents the Ynnari from killing the palladins with ranged fire. In the following grey knight turn, the paladins are reinforced by another group of paladins, raining destruction on the dark reapers.

Turn 4
The Ynnari kill the new coming paladin squad with combined fire, while the second, now free paladin squad, escort the apothecary close enough to... kill Yvraine with a thunder hammer.

Turn 5
After a continuous standoff between the lascannon armed Razorback and the Nightwings, the Nightwings finally pulls off as winners. This relieve the grey knights of any chance winning the game with no units to hold the objective. The apothecary however... manage to charge the Farseer... and kills him with his thunder hammer.

Minor Aeldari victory.

Bunker Bowl season 4

And so the blood is once again turning the grass into a crimson landscape. its Blood bowl, this time the fourth season of Bunker bowl. Now half way into the season (5 games) the number of deaths have been very disappointing. In the coach corner you can hear whispers of maybe one or two players unfortunate enough to not be playing blood bowl anymore (except maybe for an undead-team).

Above: the team, as it might appear in the future.

This season I'm coaching the infamous Xraz-Warz, the holders of the infinite "Hat-award" and five time winners of the "beard and mustachios world exhibition". This season they drafted the two bull brothers "Huuf Longhat" and "Phuur Tallhat", hoping to find a suitable spot in the rankings. The brothers have so far managed to set a hoofprint on the pitch, see below.

Above: Magritta Dolphins Blitzer Loyd Grizzlybeam smashing Huuf Longhats Hat from his head.

Above: The Selfish Dancers form a cage, just before "Phuur Tallhat" makes a Kingsrun for the ball, stealing it and almost scoring for a TD but gets stuck in the eye with an elf finger.

Iron Warriors vs Custodes - 1530 pts

Turn 1
The Iron warriors seize the objective! A deep striking unit of Obliterators destroy a Custodian jetbike but nothing mote happens. The Custodes strikes back and deep strike a dreadnought, then obliterates the defiler with a salvo from the grav tank. The jetbikes charge and kill one Obliterator, losing a second bike in overwatch fire.

Turn 2
Iron warriors terminators deep strike and cripple the grav tank with shooting and assault, but all other charges are failed. The obliterators are slain by the last jetbike. Custodes terminators arrive and kills a few marines, while the dreadnought and the Custodes guards charge into the massed iron warrior army. The blood letters kills a squad of custodian guards, while the rest of the chaos army is fast decimated.

Turn 3
With few troops left, the Iron warriors can only hope to inflict a few more kills before being overrun, the daemon prince slays the Custodian captain in combat. In return the Grav tank obliterate the daemon prince and the rest of the chaos army is quickly overrun.

Allied air recon phootage shows a german V1 rocket test facility hidden outside the french village of the Le'Troutoar' de'Paraply. It appears to be defended by a grenadier company, under the command of captain Schultz. Spencers Armoured recon have been ordered to scout the area and if any threat is encountered, call for reinforcements from Captain Willy's armored tank company. The phootage does however not show the German schwere tank hunter company hidden in the area.

Turn 1
Spencer sends his armored scout platoon to take some ground for the Stuarts before the initial assault begins. Then the tanks and one of the infantry platoons of his company advance through the small forest that are supposed to hide the testing facility. The mounted platoon of infantry dash through the village to find flanking positions. No shots are yet fired.

Turn 2
Spencers company approach the test facility thought the woods while the scouts get vision over the defending Germans. On the flank, the Halftracks move up to a line of barbed wire, open fire with their HMGs and kills a German soldier. The Germans fire back with mortars and MGs but fail to damage the armored trucks.

Turn 3
Having encountered enemies, Spencer call for Reinforcements, but none arrives. The flanking Half tracks attempt to cross the barbed wire but fails, continuing the HMG fire killing another German soldier. Spencers main force push through the woods. Two Stuarts reach the wall with a blitz move, fire and kills a 8.8. The infantry pins the grenadiers, but the coming charge is pinned down by defensive fire, losing two teams in the process.

Schultz call for reinforcements and two Jagdpanthers heed the call. They instantly remove the Stuart that didn't make it into the woods. The remaining 8.8 gun crew manage to pull themselves together, stay on the battlefield and destroy a Stuart with their return fire.

Turn 4
Spencer finally connect to Willy on the comm-link and two tank platoons arrive to the battlefield. The flanking half tracks once again attempt to cross the wire, but only one vehicle makes it across. The operational Stuart and the greyhounds destroy the second 8.8. The main force now assault over the wall and just barley avoids being pinned down by defensive fire. A bloody massacre follows killing the german CiC and a whole platoon, only with a few american soldiers still standing after the fight.

In the bloody melee Schultz is killed, but Otto's reinforcements is arriving. Three StuG enter the battle and finally destroy the Stuart harassing the compound. The Jagdpanthers struggle to find any targets, but moves closer to the objective.

Turn 5
Willy's company gets some AA halftracks arriving from reserve while the flanking halftracks once again struggle to cross the barbed wire. The tanks advance and together with the half tracks kills a few German soldiers.

The reduced HMGs decide to retreat for better firing solutions another day. Otto arrives in his Jagdpanther, toghether with his AA halftracks. Sadly he was misinformed by the situation and ends up on the far side of the compound. He now has to struggle throught the woods to fight the americans, but does so and kill one with MG fire. The Jagdpanther platoon finds no targets and aim for the US objective, hoping for the last US reserves not to enter there.

Turn 6
Spencers last Stuart flees the battle, but Willy arrive on the battlefield. He arrive exactly where the Jagdpanthers have moved up to the objective, but cant finds any angle to hit the side armor of the panther. Instead he smokes the tanks. The 76mm Sherman takes a front shot on the panther tanks, seeing their projectiles bounce off. The flanking half tracks finally make it across the barbed wire! In the compound however, a Sherman destroys a StuG. The last surviving bazooka bails another, and then makes an insane assault charge, surviving the defencive fire from the last StuG, and then beating it in assault.

With Schultz company down to mortars and a half platoon of grenadiers, Otto puts the fate of the battle in the hands of the Jagdpanthers. The plan is to destroy Willy's tank and his 2iCs tank, then make a shoot and scoot so the 76mm will have to fire in the front arc. Sadly the plan misfired with the only result being the 2iC getting Bailed out and the shoot and scoot failed. Otto himself, frustrated by his soldiers performance, press up to the compound wall with his Panther and blow a Sherman to pieces.

Turn 7
Willy's 2iC remounts and flank the panthers. Together with the 76mm Shermans he finds the unprotected rear of the panthers to be easy prey, destroying them both. The Flanking rifle platoon now assault the grenadiers defending the compound, killing the remaining platoon, but not without taking a handful of casualties. The mortars are then assaulted by the Sherman platoon which then consolidate their positions to take the V1 objective.

With nothing to prevent Willy's Sherman from holding the objective Otto decides to retreat for better use of his remaining soldiers. The fuhrer will probably not be pleased.
