This scenario takes place where the British force have penetrated the lines and pushed into the second line of defense. A German line division is defending, though their numbers are few and awaiting reinforcements. The defender (German) takes first turn, but holds all units except half of the infantry and half of the guns in reserve. Attacker starts with full force, with at least half force assaulting the trench line and up to half assaulting the flank.

Turn 1
The defender takes the first turn and rolls for reserves, but no one arrive. The German kills two British rifle teams rushing for the trench. A sniper reveals itself from a crater. The British forces advance and British return fire fail to kill any teams but in the following assaulting the female tank kills two teams. The sniper miss its target.

Turn 2
Still no German reserves. The German infantry in the trench fire upon the British infantry now occupying the trench without result. The infantry gun re-position to get a shot at the female but it deflects the hit with its armor. The British force advance further into enemy territory. In return, the Infantry gun is destroyed by a rifle grenade.

Turn 3
The German HMG arrives from reserves and takes up position in a building. From there a few shots are exchanged with the British rifle platoon hiding in a wood, killing a team. The British sniper fail to relocate but the combined fire from the Mark IV male, the 18 pdr and the rifle platoon destroy 2 HMG teams.

Turn 4
One AV7 tank and the second rifle platoon (with attached Anti-tank rifle) arrives. The AV7 tank line up to get a shot at the Male tank, while the infantry hide in the wood. The AV7 tank opens up on the Male tank and the infantry. The AV7 misses the male tank but together with the HMG it mange to destroy two infantry teams in a torrent of bullets. The British sniper disappears from its hiding nest. The British infantry digs in. The Male tank Fires back at the AV7 and destroy it, while the 18 pdr blows away another HMG team (the last one passes its morale test). Remaining teams of the German trench infantry is assaulted and destroyed.

Turn 5
The second AV7 arrive and opens up on the Male tank and the infantry. The Male tank fires back and manage to inflict damage. The infantry in the wood digs in. The female tank moves into position to fire upon the infantry in the wood, causing a few hits but no causalities. The front line 18 pdr fires a bombardment missing its target. The 18 pdr destroys another HMG resulting in its commander fleeing of the table.

Turn 6
With two platoon on the field and three destroyed, the Germans are forced to take company morale check - passing it. The last 7,62 cm infantry gun arrives and opens up upon the female tank. Neither the infantry gun nor the AT-rifles succeed to penetrate its armor. The AV7 fail to repair but fires back at the male tank inflicting double damage! The sniper takes up new position in a crater close to the church, in position to fire at the infantry. The Male tank repairs and now fires 4 shots back at the damaged AV7. Two hits are scored but both are successfully saved! The front line artillery gun destroys one infantry team in the wood with its single gun bombardment.

Turn 7
The infantry in the wood dig in. The AV7 fire upon but miss the Male tank. The female tank save all hits from the infantry gun and the anti-tank rifles. Things now looks seriously bad for the Germans. The British infantry leaves the trench to advance on the objective together with the female tank. In return the Male tanks destroy the damaged AV7 with its full 4 shot salvo. The main assault artillery gun destroys one infantry team in its single gun bombardment towards the infantry in the wood.

Turn 8
The Germans pass their Company morale check. The infantry rally and fire its AT-rifles at the female tank, inflicting damage. The infantry gun fails to penetrate its armor. The Female tank fails to repair and thus cannot move (but still shoot). The British infantry moves in for the assault, while the male tank and the other British infantry platoon move towards the second objective. Combined fire destroys the infantry gun and the artillery once again hits the platoon in the wood and pins it down.

Seven dice in defensive fire and not a single hit means that the assault goes through, resulting in a bloody mess. After two rounds of combat the Germans are wiped but the British platoon is also destroyed due to failed platoon morale. The Germans did not hold their ground.

British 5-2 Victory.

Comments
Great war is a lot of fun. With the smaller table size and the perception of WW1 being static trench war, I'm surprised the scenarios make it so dynamic and interesting. The points goes up fast when you add a tank or two to the force. On the downside I think the support for the Brittish force is a bit limiting, you're forced to take male tank or artillery to stop enemy tanks (opposed to the Germans that have AV7 tanks, captured male tanks, artillery, infantry guns, anti tank guns, armor piercing-HMGs, anti tank-rifles and flame throwers to deal with tanks!).
